It’s almost Octoberfest in Massachusetts and Buzzards Bay Brewing 
in Westport, Mass. is celebrating the harvest season with a special evening on October 28th at the Brewery. They’ve brewed up a special batch of Fest beer and are ready to share it with 100 beer-loving people from 3-7pm. Tickets for Octoberfest at Buzzards Bay Brewery are $20 and you can reserve in advance at by clicking here.
Eco News Network had the fun opportunity to get an advanced taste at the recent 10 Mile Farm-to-Table Dinner at the brewery that featured a beer pairing with four courses of locally-sourced foods. 
The Fest, and the other beers served were great as was the food and the company. Local Massachusetts farms contributing to the event included Runaway Farm (Dartmouth), Silverbrook Farm (Darmouth), Round the Bend Farm (Westport), Paskamansett Farm (Dartmouth), and Eva’s Garden. Beers served included the Buzzards Bay IPA, tHegOlDenfLounDer, Fest, and Boo.
Buzzards Bay Brewing is a family owned and operated brewery that brews with only malts, hops, yeast and water 
from American farmers and water sourced from their own farm. All of the malts they use are grown in America and the hops are with grown at the Brewery or from a single hop ranch in Washington State.
The philosophy at the Buzzards Bay Brewing is to let the ingredients speak for themselves with a balance that 
allows you to “taste the farm in the beer.”
The Russell family is actively involved in the local community including with land and water conservation efforts of the Westport Land Conservation Trust, Westport River Watershed Alliance, Buzzards Bay Coalition, and Trustees of Reservations.
In 1982 the Russell Family purchased the historic, 140-acre “Long Acre Farm” and the family founded both Buzzards Bay Brewing and nearby Westport Rivers Winery (another story to come) with a deep regard for local agriculture and education. As of 2012, the Russell Family has permanently preserved 400 acres of working farmland and forest.
Beyond land conservation, Bill and Daryl Russell also helped to found a school for orphans and destitute kids in western Kenya, Mundia Academy, which feeds, clothes and educates over 60 children from ages 2 through 13.
